Under an Albanese Labor Government, local families in Redbank Plains will benefit from investment in a toy library at the Redbank Plains Community Centre.
Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann said that the toy library would be perfect for young families and local playgroups.
“Redbank Plains is home to a lot of families and young children from diverse backgrounds,” he said.
“This is why, if elected, an Albanese Labor Government will provide $20,000 to support the development of a Redbank Plains toy library.
“I have heard from the Ipswich City Council and local schools that far too many children are unprepared to start school.
“It’s important that all children are given access to learning and play experiences as part of getting ready to attend school.
“I want to thank the Ipswich Councillors for Division One, Sheila Ireland and Jacob Madsen, for their advocacy and preparedness to work with us to ensure local children get the best start in life.
“Labor is committed to ensuring a better future for working families and knows just how integral toy libraries and playgroups are for both children and parents,” Mr Neumann said.
Mr Neumann said toy libraries play such an important role for families with babies and young children, by providing an environment for play-based learning and social development, and for mums and dads to meet and interact with other parents and caregivers.
“The Redbank Plains Community Centre is an important community space and an ideal location for local parents and caregivers to make friends in a welcoming, safe environment, and to give children access to a range of educational toys and developmental experiences at low or no cost.
“Labor is committed to supporting local families in Redbank Plains.
“If elected, an Albanese Labor Government will continue to invest in local toy libraries and playgroups.”
In addition to this grant, an Albanese Labor Government will bring down the cost of childcare for 96 per cent of families in the system and no family will be worse off.
Labor’s plan for cheaper childcare will provide immediate relief for tightening household budgets, ensure more children receive the early education they deserve, and better support parents to work the hours they want and need.
