Federal Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann has announced funding of up to $15,637 for Alzheimer's Association of Queensland Inc. for the installation of access ramps at their East Ipswich centre.

Alzheimer's Association of Queensland will receive the funding under the Blair Stronger Communities Programme Round Two.

The Stronger Communities Programme (SCP) provides grants of between $5,000 and $20,000 to community organisations for small capital projects which improve community participation and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of local communities. Grants must be matched by cash and/or in-kind funding from the organisation on at least a dollar-for-dollar basis.

“Alzheimer's Queensland delivers a valuable service which supports locals and families in the Ipswich community by providing innovative programs that promote wellbeing, and support independence in older age,” Mr Neumann said.

“Alzheimer's Queensland provides these services in response to the needs of the local community, and over the years has certainly become an integral part of the fabric of the local area.”

Shayne Neumann said that throwing his support behind Alzheimer's Association of Queensland’s application for grant funding was an easy decision.

“I’m pleased to have been able to support their application for stronger communities' grant funding to install access ramps at their premises on Chermside Road, East Ipswich.

“Staff and volunteers at Alzheimer's Association of Queensland work tirelessly to make a positive difference in the lives of locals living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, and their families.

“For that reason they are a very worthy recipient of this grant funding.”

Mr Neumann said he’s been a long-term supporter of Alzheimer's Association of Queensland, particularly during his previous role as Shadow Minister for Ageing.

“The benefit of the work they do and the services they provide in our community can be felt right across Ipswich, and I have seen that first hand.

“I am so proud to be able to deliver this funding to assist them.”

Shayne Neumann said that applications for funding under the Stronger Communities Programme are assessed by an independent panel of community members from the Ipswich and Somerset Region.

“I was pleased to lend my support to the independent community assessment panel’s positive recommendation to support Alzheimer's Association of Queensland application to ensure they can go ahead with this project.”
