BLAIR STRONGER COMMUNITIES PROGRAM MAKING A DIFFERENCE

11 October 2021

Community groups, not-for-profit sporting bodies and P&Cs are encouraged to apply for grants between $2,500 and $20,000 in round seven of the Blair Stronger Communities Programme, opening soon.

Federal Member for Blair said he would love to hear from groups in Ipswich, the Somerset Region and Karana Downs area, who may be eligible to apply for up to 100 per cent of their capital project costs.

“This is an excellent opportunity for community and not-for-profit organisations to access some Federal Government funding,” Mr Neumann said.

“The past few years have been incredibly challenging for not-for-profit and community groups, which is why eligible organisations may be able to receive up to 100 per cent of their project costs.

“Government grants usually require some co-contribution, so this is a welcome bonus for our community.”

While the grant funding is important, Mr Neumann said it does not make up for the continued neglect by Scott Morrison.

“Our community has been doing it tough, particularly through the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We need big infrastructure programs to create jobs and boost economic growth.”

The Stronger Communities grants are for small capital works or capital expenditure and must demonstrate social benefits to the community.

Previous successful initiatives under the program include:

  • $20,000 for Western Pride to develop female change rooms.
  • $18,400 for Ipswich Switches Junior Speedway for new track timing infrastructure.
  • $17,500 for the Anglican Parish of Rosewood to build new toilet facilities.
  • $15,000 for the Marburg and District Residents Association inc. to establish a museum at the Historical Precinct
  • $10,000 for the Linville Progress Association’s community garden hardscaping project.

The programme is intended to improve local community participation and contribute to vibrant and viable communities.

“The only way to apply is through your Federal Member so groups should contact my office so we can send an application pack as soon as the program opens.”
