Ipswich and Somerset Community Groups looking to promote inclusiveness and social resilience will be able to access new funding under the Federal Government’s ‘Strong and Resilient Communities’ program.
Grants of between $20,000 and $150,000 are available to community groups under both the Community Resilience and Inclusive Communities Grants Scheme.
Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann MP said that funding under the program was designed to allow community groups to engage with and assist with helping disadvantaged and vulnerable community members.
“The Strong and Resilient Communities Program seeks to help address problems in our community like financial hardship, low social cohesion and racial intolerance.
“Funding is available to groups that support projects in communities to address potential or early signed of low social cohesion, or that improve the social and economic standing of vulnerable and disadvantaged community members.
“Both Ipswich and the Somerset are home to a number of community groups and organisations that do great work in promoting community resilience and inclusiveness.
“I’d urge anyone with a project in mind to consider putting in an application to lend a hand to those in need in Ipswich and the Somerset.”
Applications under the Strong and Resilient Communities Program are open until the 23 August 2017. For more information, contact the Blair Electorate Office on (07) 3201 5300, or by email on Shayne.Neumann.MP@aph.gov.au.
