Federal Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann has announced funding of up to $10,000 to the Ipswich City Dirt Kart Club for an upgrade of the club's canteen and administration facilities
The club will receive the funding under the Blair Stronger Communities Programme Round 2.
The Stronger Communities Programme (SCP) provides grants of between $5,000 and $20,000 to community organisations for small capital projects which improve community participation and contribute to the vibrancy and viability of local communities. Grants must be matched by cash and/or in-kind funding from the organisation on at least a dollar-for-dollar basis.
Mr Neumann said that the Ipswich City Dirt Kart Club was a well deserving recipient made of up of hard working volunteers.
“As one of the most active sporting and recreational clubs operating in Ipswich, it was important to ensure that the Ipswich City Dirt Kart Club are getting the help and resources they need to keep doing their good work," Mr Neumann said.
“The club gives enthusiasts from all over the region the opportunity to compete and socialise, and I’m proud to have supported the tireless efforts of the local volunteers who have helped to make the club such a success.”
Mr Neumann said that the funding would allow the club to invest in new facilities and promote Ipswich as a karting destination.
“As a result of this funding, the club will be able to install both a new canteen facility, and new administration facilities, which will include first aid and meeting rooms.
“These facilities will be vital as the club continues to grow, and importantly will allow them to host regional events, attracting participants from throughout South East Queensland here to Ipswich, as well as helping to ensure the health and welfare of participants.”
Mr Neumann said that applications for funding under the Stronger Communities Programme are assessed by an independent panel of community members from the Ipswich and Somerset Region.
“I was pleased to lend my support to the independent community assessment panel’s positive recommendation to support the Ipswich City Dirt Kart Club so that they can proceed with this essential upgrade.”
